Adding jumpers during routing

Hi, Firstly I need to express my utmost gratitude to you for uploading the video on using Kicad for beginners, I have to say it was the most useful site I watched. I am a newbie to PCB designs, Just a hobbyist trying to teach myself something new ( So please forgive me if my questions are silly of too simple).
I am trying to design a single layer PCB which I than will proceed etch myself at home. I am trying to add a jumper to cross existing tracks but There does not seem to be any feature to support that. Tried adding a resistor foot print in the PCB layout but it doesn't really work. Any tips on this matter?

You were on right track! Just needed to include 1206 SMD resistor, it would great for jumper connection, if you like the tracks to go in between the pads.

Thank you very much for your feedback, Again what I’m about to ask you may sound silly but I think I am missing something. When you add a resistor in the PCB editor, Do you need to add it in the schematic diagram first? Cos otherwise I am not able to connect any tracks to the added resistor to bypass another track. So I am trying to use Vias instead but it does not give me the freedom to route in a way that wound allow be to cross over components etc like I could if I was using a jumper wire. In Summary , Is it possible to have two point in the PCB which are connected electrically (indicating we will add a jumper across the two points manually) while still allowing us to route those two point to parts of the circuit? I guess the problem is also partly my lack or routing skills as i am just starting.

Yes, you need to add them in the schematic in series to the net where you think you might need a jumper during routing.

You can also forcefully add the jumper without needing to add in the schematic.

Draw a track from the resistor (added in pcb editor) and later change the track name to match the track that you need to connect.
But this would cause a lot of DRC issues.

Thank you very much for your speedy reply, Shall try it out and see . Have a good day
