I am using KICAD for the first time as I have a desire to build a strobe flash circuit. I’ve gotten schematic built and completed ERC. But the whole layout 'THING" is very confusing to me … Is it analogous to the schematic build … place component, make wire connections, test?
In PCB layout, Are we supposed to address the spaghetti wire lines? Why do they jump around as you move components position on the board. And trace routing… wow.
Is there a good detailed tutorial on this part of the design process? Help!
Did you watch the routing tutorial from our youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HpYpP2L10A ?
It looks like you’re simply starting KiCad’s PCB layout for the first time and finding it confusing because it’s different from schematic work — in PCB layout you must open the PCB editor (Pcbnew), import/“update PCB from schematic,” place your components, and then route traces to connect them physically on the board. The squiggly “ratsnest” lines are just showing the connections you still need to complete once parts are moved into sensible positions.
